Role Summary:
As part of the firm’s expansion, we are looking for a Senior Executive to support the Tax team resources.
Responsibilities:
•Assist clients with areas of direct taxes.
• Seeing to the needs of clients and prospective clients in the best possible manner and efficiently.
• Assist in the tax compliance work review such as income tax computations and claims for refund, amongst others.
• Provide technical tax advice to clients on domestic and international tax matters, including structuring options, tax implications of transactions, and interpretative positions.
• Assist in research and analyse changes in tax legislation, guidelines, and case law, ensuring clients are informed of relevant developments and their potential impact.
• Draft technical memos, tax opinions and advisory notes with clear conclusions supported by legislation, precedent, and administrative practice.
• Assisting private clients with their fiscal obligations in terms of the various tax residency schemes applicable at the time.
• Support clients during tax audits and investigations, including preparing technical arguments, documentation, and liaising with the authorities where required.
• Ensure high technical quality in all deliverables, including compliance review, advisory notes, and client communication.
• Contribute to the development of internal technical knowledge, including delivering training sessions, preparing technical updates, and mentoring junior staff on technical areas.
• Maintain a high level of professional and ethical standards, ensuring that technical advice is accurate, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Be a point of reference for company employees on tax-related issues.
• Manage and coach junior team members.
• Anticipate problems and provide solutions.
• Liaise with auditors.
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time, subject to these being within the professional competency of the Employee.
Requirements:
•A qualification from the University of Malta in Accounting or ACCA.
•Minimum 3-4 years of local working experience in a similar tax role.
• Can work independently and within a team.
